We know your calendar is full, your spaces are tight, and the budget is tapped. You don't have to apologize. We're used to those conditions; in fact, some of our best programming has been born out of seeing beyond the bricks and mortar and budget woes.
Active Adventures
NIFS Active Adventure Trips are coordinated between the NIFS staff and your lifestyle services department. Designed to promote physical activity and new experiences within the community for your residents, these outings are a fun way to enrich the lives of residents while keeping participants motivated in their exercise programs. Examples of previous Active Adventures Trips include: educational lectures at NIFS headquarters, guided walking tours of a historic cemetery, and hiking trips in state parks.
Balance Challenge
Need a proven way to improve resident's balance on a budget? NIFS Balance Challenge doesn't require sophisticated balance assessment tools (though we can certainly put those to good use!). Using available or low cost balance devices, NIFS staff give residents what they crave: a balance assessment along with engaging activities to improve function and confidence. This program encourages resident participation in existing fitness services such as balance classes and exercise prescriptions while also educating residents on fall prevention and promoting participation in challenging obstacles courses, assessments, home safety checklists, and other balance training tools. At one CCRC in the Indianapolis-area, residents who completed the 6 week program in its entirety showed a 23% improvement in their balance assessment scores.
Educational Wellness Series
It's true - we're experts on physical wellness. But that doesn't mean we leave other dimensions to go unnoticed. Our Wellness Series programming is a perfect example of how we offer residents a chance to experience other wellness dimensions at your community. NIFS Wellness Series topics have included Aging with Vitality, Mind Body Connection, Active Senior Sports, and Balance & Fall Prevention.
